Well!! Our accommodation here in San Francisco is everything that Premiere Suites in New Haven wasn't - accessible to some very fine restaurants, some sort of take-out (with grog) on many corners and a couple of markets within walking distance. Did I mention bars? At least two plus a couple of WINE BARS even!! Monday night we ate at the restaurant over the road - Tikka Marsala (see http://www.tikkamasalasf.com/ ) and Tuesday night we ate Persian at Lavash (see http://lavashsf.com/) - a bit different from Sydney's The Persian Room ( http://thepersianroom.com.au/ ) but still with slow-cooked meats, and family-owned and run.
Today I took the N-Judah tram down Judah Street to the Pacific Ocean. A nice-enough beach but apparently not good for swimming or surfing.
The beach-front shops are a bit run-down, with none built up to enable views over the sand-dunes. I thought that the renowned Cliff House was at this end of Judah Street, but it is further north closer to the entrance to SF Bay. The America's Cup will be on SF bay in October, so I hope we can see some of it.
More later.
